Crazy growth of one Software company

The last two years have seen some staggering growth in RPA and AI industry. Back in 2012 I went to an outsourcing event in London and met a small software company from Romania. They were passionate about their automation technology but unfortunately they were a bit too small as a vendor to bid for projects within the GOX client network. I think they had 10-20 developers at that time. Fast forward time 6 years and they are now valued at $3.5 billion, they have almost 2k people and revenue exceeding $250 million. So what happened in the meantime? Well they got $400 million in funding and signed up thousands of new customers, set up 200.000 tech adopters through their UI path academy…..so you might say they got lucky. Well don’t forget they had been in the software space for 10 years with quite limited growth but the founders wanted to build a product and start a new industry using software to automate manual repetitive processes. Call it luck, call it timing, I call it persistence and hard work with a sprinkle of luck added on top. Well done to the UI Path team they deserve all the credit they are getting, it’s an awesome solution and it can really help both large and small organisations achieve significant productivity gains but as with any new technology it requires buy-in, expertise, funding, change management, and agile delivery model to get the most out of it.
